Coming in fresh from the “this band gets digital” department comes news of Virgin act, A Fine Frenzy, who are celebrating the recruitment of their millionth follower on Twitter with the release of a free download.
To celebrate the moment and to thank fans, the band is tweeting a free MP3, an acoustic version of their single, “Blow Away”. This version was recorded during a recent visit to Cincinnati radio station Q102.
The album version was released digitally on July 14 and has been added to dozens of radio station playlists already, while the band’s second album ‘Bomb In A Birdcage’ is scheduled for digital and physical release on September 8, 2009.
Frontwoman, singer-songwriter Alison Sudol (@AFineFrenzy) began tweeting “long before Twitter became a social magnet,” (according to the label). She’s been among the top ten most-followed musicians on the service for months, alongside other noted Tweeterers including John Mayer; P. Diddy, 50 Cent, and Soulja Boy; actor/singer Ashley Tisdale; Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz and Coldplay.
Seattle-born and Los Angeles-raised Sudol released the first A FINE FRENZY album, One Cell In the Sea, in 2007, reaching Number One on Billboard’s “Heatseeker” charts. The band was chosen as a VH-1 “You Oughta Know” artist, and received rave notices in Entertainment Weekly, Paste and People, among others. Touring alongside the likes of Rufus Wainwright and Brandi Carlile, Sudol also appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The CBS Early Show and The Late Show with David Letterman. She made her acting debut on the crime drama series CSI: NY and has also shot fashion spreads.
