Musicians gain Facebook, MySpace retail

roots_manuvaNews out of Midem, where the Indie Mobile arm of the [PIAS] Entertainment Group, have reached a deal with US mobile content and widget specialist Dijit to be their exclusive European distribution partner.
Dijit’s widget allows labels and artists to sell direct to fans through their MySpace and Facebook sites without the need to set up cumbersome web shops. Continue reading

We7 launches free music-on-demand service

We7 today officially launched its ads-supported music service, offering UK music lovers the chance to listen to whatever music they choose for free, and offering a chance to buy their favourite music.

The service’s extensive catalogue includes music from a three million strong catalogue of artists including Kings of Leon, Pink, Nickelback, and Estelle.

We7 is adding up to 30,000 tracks a day to its collection of over 3 million licensed tracks, including many new releases as they become available.

Free music site is artist-friendly

Brand new ads-funded online music distribution service, Rawrip, launched in beta today.

Set to launch for real in November, the service promises artists 100 per cent of the royalties accrued with every music download. In addition to pay as you go downloads, fans can stream music for free, store songs in their own personal music library, and explore new music using the ‘The Rippler.’
