BBC shows for iTunes Store France

BBC Worldwide has finally reached a deal which brings its rich trove of content to iTunes users in France, with shows from the broadcaster now made available through the French version of the media store.

This follows a similar move this time last month, when shows from the BBC were made available for purchase through the German version of the store.

BBC Worldwide plans online music/video store

BBC Worldwide plans to launch its very own ad-supported online music service, offering music lovers access to the broadcaster’s huge archive of audio and video music content.

The move means TV shows like Top of the Pops, coverage of Glastonbury Festival or the Proms, and all-time music classics such as the Old Grey Whistle Test will be made available for free streaming or for direct sale.

BBC sets Scumbag College on iTunes

The BBC is exploring its back catalogue, looking for shows to sell through iTunes, and began offering the first series of cult comedy The Young Ones through the Apple service this week.

First broadcast in 1982, The Young Ones featured Rik Mayall, Adrian Edmonson and Nigel Planer. The second and final series will also be made available in the coming weeks.

The Young Ones captures the essence of student life in Thatcherite Britain in the early 80’s, following four students studying at the aptly named Scumbag College.
