Sony introduced three new Walkman player models this week at the IFA electronics show in Berlin, including the slimline (7.5mm) S-series.
Boasting up to 40-hours battery life, the S630 and S730 models both play MP3s and also offer video playback on their 2-inch QVGA (320-x-240 pixel) displays. The latter model also offers noise cancelling features.
Both the Sony devices support the drag-and-drop transfer of non-DRM-encrusted songs from iTunes using software supplied with the players.
Formats supported include MP3, WMA, AAC, PCM, JPEG for photos, Windows Media Video with digital rights management, H.264/AVC and MPEG4.
The devices ship in October and ship pre-loaded with 8 videos from Sony BMG artists, including Sandi Thom and The Ting Tings.
Sony also announced several additional models of Walkman, including the multi-coloured E-series devices, which are audio players some of which are equipped with FM radios and voice recorders.
