Sony BMG hitches Vodafone Live! leader

Sony BMG Music Entertainment UK has hired former Vodafone Director of Global Content Development, Graeme Ferguson, as the label’s Senior Vice President digital and strategic partnerships.
Ferguson joined Vodafone in August 2002 to lead the Content Development Team for Vodafone Global Products and Content Services. In his time he oversaw the launch of the Vodafone Live! portal, achieved several landmark sports deals and was also responsible for introducing other forms of rich-media content through Vodafone Live!, including full-track music from the majors, Europe’s first 3D games and the first-ever launch of made-for-mobile content developed with 20th Century Fox.
“We are determined to give music fans more and more ways to interact with our music,” said Ged Doherty, chairman of Sony BMG Music Entertainment UK.
Prior to his stint at Vodafone, he was Vice President of Business Development at Worldzap, a pioneer in the distribution of premium sport video clips (ie; FIFA World Cup) for next-generation (3G) mobile devices.
Before this he was Director of Business Development (Europe) of, a broadband sports start-up. He also spent years working at NBC and CNBC, a period in which he was involved in the launch of
“Graeme’s understanding of brands and digital content will be invaluable to us in achieving that goal,” Doherty continued.
