Noel Gallagher on Radiohead’s ‘marketing’ ploy

Speaking to Radio 6 Oasis’ Noel Gallagher today said he believes Radiohead’s ‘pay-what-you-like’ method of releasing the hugely successful ‘In Rainbows’ album was a “free marketing” ploy.
“To be honest, to me it looked like marketing … good for them. That’s what they do, they’re rebels and outsiders,” he said.
Despite the success of Radiohead’s strategy, Gallagher said Oasis has no plan to repeat the experiment, though, “”That’s not our bag,” he said. “I didn’t spend a year in the most expensive studio in England, with the most expensive producer in America, and the most expensive graphic designer in London to then give it away. Fuck that,” he said.
Oasis will release their album Dig Out Your Soul on 6 October.
