Let the guesses begin: Apple maybe sells 120,000 iPads on day one

Apple introduced iPad (pre-ordering) into the US last week, and perhaps generated $75 million in sales on the day, according to some educated guesswork on the part of Investor Village.

The investment website estimates Apple sold around 120,000 camera-free iPads on Friday. They also declared that approximately 69 per cent of models sold were WiFi-only models, with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models all equally popular.

The upshot: “Apple has been able to generate over $75 million in revenue on one day on a product that 99.9% of purchasers haven’t touched or for that matter, even seen in person,” said Valcent Financial Group’s Victor Castroll.
