In the UK, where the show premieres this Friday (February 5), new episodes will be available to buy through iTunes the morning after their debut on premium channel Sky1.
For French and German audiences, though, the first episode of the final season of “Lost” will be available from Wednesday. It’s a move to prevent piracy – part of Disney’s Hot from the U.S. service through iTunes, which makes shows available within 48 hours of U.S. transmission.
Maria Kyriacou, the senior VP of new media distribution at The Walt Disney Company, EMEA, commented: “By providing viewers with access to our highly coveted content via the best possible legitimate services, Disney offers a far more appealing proposition than any illegal offerings. By working with iTunes, we are enabling fans in France and Germany to enjoy the final season of Lost as early and conveniently as possible.”
Each episode of the sixth season of “Lost” will be available to download for a period of four weeks.
