Brian Eno ships ambient iPhone app, Bloom

The father of ambient music, Brian Eno, has introduced his own chilled-out version of an iPhone application.

He’s co-developed an App called, Bloom, which lets you choose between listening to or creating music. You make music by tapping the screen, which creates the sound and leaves a mark where you tapped. You can change the mood and tempo. Sounds repeat now and then in order to form some kind of composition, and you simply need to shake the Apple device to reset the music.

Eno, producer of acts as diverse as Coldplay, U2 and Talking Heads, worked with ambient musician Peter Chilvers on the app. “Bloom is an endless music machine, a music box for the 21st century. You can play it, and you can watch it play itself,” Eno explains. There’s the movie after the break…
