Black Entertainment Television (BET) has reached an agreement with iTunes under which the channel will offer songs for sale from iTunes through its site.
The scheme, revealed by AdAge, is part of the channel’s build-up to its annual Hip-Hop awards. Denmark West, BET Networks’ president of digital media, explained the network to have chosen Apple as its partner for a music-purchasing platform that will debut in conjunction with this year’s “Hip-Hop Awards.
Site visitors will be able to find artist profiles and other information on the Hip-Hop Award’s website and will be able to easily purchase music from iTunes, also.
“Our partnership-based commerce model will provide deep integration into our site with the ability for people to buy it now,” said West.
