Watching Movies On iPhones Is “Dumb” Says Avatar Director James Cameron

Look, dummy, if you’re watching movies on your iPhone you’re not watching a movie, you may think you’re watching a movie, you may be able to hear the movie, you may even get the illusion you’ve seen the movie after you finish, but you ain’t, you just ain’t seen the movie.

And its not me saying this, it’s James Cameron, and he reinvented the movie industry with Avatar, which is almost certainly gonna spawn a million 3D copycats and put, oh, a thousand actors out of business.

Actors are so troublesome. Hollywood’s always wanted to find a way to get rid of them.

Anyway, the story – Cameron was speaking at a press conference about Avatar’s Blu-ray release.

“I don’t feel that I’m making movies for iPhones,” he explained. “If someone wants to watch it on an iPhone, I’m not going to stop them, especially if they’re paying for it, but I don’t recommend it.

“I think it’s dumb, when you have characters that are so small in the frame that they’re not visible.”

He also slams movie playback on laptops, saying there’s a limit in screen size “you wouldn’t want to go below”.

Oh, and for 3D viewing, “”If you’re going to go 3D, go big. Get the biggest set you can, and then sit as close as you can stand.”
