The Telegraph’s unique writing project…

The Telegraph is engaged in a rather interesting digital initiative with Alexander McCall Smith. The newspaper will publish his latest novel in 100 successive episodes on the Telegraph website, while making simultaneous podcast editions available through iTunes.

Booktrade informs the story begins on September 15. The book’s called ‘Corduroy Mansions’, and tells the story of the various people living in a large house in Pimlico.

The daily podcast of the book will be narrated by Andrew Sachs, these podcasts will later be released as an audiobook when the book is published in July 2009.

Edward Roussel, Digital Editor, Telegraph Media Group, said: “This is a great opportunity for Telegraph.co.uk readers to actively engage in the creation of a novel by a leading author. The project is part of a series of initiatives that are putting Telegraph.co.uk at the cutting edge of digital media.”
