The DevTeam has released Pwnage Tool and QuickPwn 2.2 Windows users only have QuickPwn.
“If you have a 3G iPhone and want potential soft unlock in the near future do NOT use QuickPwn, and do not use the official ipsw or the iTunes update process without using PwnageTool,” the team warns.
The team notes that Apple’s new software updated the baseband on the 3G iPhone, which means the iPhone Dev Team are advising unlockers not to use Pwnage, as it will revert to the older (slower) baseband.
Apple’s iPhone has been hacked just days since the product and the software that runs it shipped. The iPhone Dev team this morning published software – Pwnage 2.0 – any iPhone user can use to unlock the device, a process which enables installation of non-Apple-approved third party applications. Oh – and it’s not just iPhone users – Pwnage 2.0 can also unlock the iPod touch.
