BBC World News streams live to iPhone

Akamai today announced that Livestation, a UK-based global provider of online broadcast content, has launched its streaming application which allows live television broadcasts to be sent to the iPhone using Akamai Media Delivery.

The Livestation technology puts broadcasters in direct contact with the users and generates revenue for them when the application is purchased from the iPhone App Store.

iPlayer’s nice and you can purchase TV shows from iTunes, but what about live TV? Mobile TV on iPhone may one day move from promise to reality, with news now from LiveStation who are developing a solution to let you watch TV news from numerous providers using the Apple mobile. Here’s a demo led by company CEO, Matteo Berlucci.

Livestation adds German TV to online network

Online live TV streaming company, Livestation, has signed up a new broadcaster to its service, Germany’s Deutsche Welle.

Livestation will carry Deutsche Welle TV and radio across its network into people’s homes via broadband. The German broadcaster is the ninth partner to be signed by Livestation – other broadcasters include BBC World, EuroNews (English, French, German and Italian), France 24 (French and English), Bloomberg, Al Jazeera and Russia Today.
