Apple has confirmed 300 million application downloads through its App Store since launch on July 11, 2008.
The five month achievement is noted within a pair of iPhone ads published Friday in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. The company also confirmed that in excess of 10,000 applications are now available through the App Store.
The two ads name a range of available applications for the device, including: Facebook; Bank of America; Urbanspoon; Shazam; Asphalt 4; eBay; APMobile News; Bloomberg; Mandarin; Remote’ Sudoku; Flight Status; Loopt; Spore; QuickVoice and AIM.

FourTrack is a songwriting and practice tool for singers, guitar players, piano players and other musicians who want to capture musical ideas and record songs on their iPhone. “Plug in a microphone, arm a track, record, and repeat,” the developers say.
The app works with the iPhone built-in microphone, a headset mic, or an iPod touch with a third-party mic and headphones. WiFi sync allows FourTrack recordings to be downloaded to any desktop computer with a browser. Tracks can then be loaded into any recording software (DAW) to continue working on songs.
Apple’s grip on the digital music player market remains strong, while its landgrab on the mobile device space through the iPhone remains a serious contender.
The company announced its quarterly results yesterday. While the accounting period didn’t include all the recent sales of the much-hyped iPhone 3G, Apple confirmed sales of 717,000 iPhones during the quarter.
