Did Apple’s Tim Cook fancy The Fancy for Apple Store iPad app?

Did Apple's Tim Cook fancy The Fancy for Apple Store iPad app?

Just a short note, but in July last year Apple CEO, Tim Cook, reportedly signed-up for a Fancy account for some reason. We didn’t know why, but I will say that when I looked at the all-new Apple Store App for the iPad (like Amazon but good) it seemed pretty clear he fancied some of the ideas he saw. That’s not to say Apple stole any ideas, but he was obviously looking for a graphically-rich, shareable, social-friendly inspiration for ideas to support the Apple Retail Store, and I think he drew some inspiration from The Fancy. And why wouldn’t he? He was responsible for the Apple Store at that time, as the company couldn’t find a decent man for the job (and they picked a very smart woman instead). Just a thought.

Warner Music Boss Ignites iTunes Streaming Speculation

Warner Music Group CEO, Edgar Bronfman Jr, is full of praise for Apple – sparking fresh speculation iTunes streaming music services may be on the way in the latest financial call.

He was very backward in responding to questions on this, saying:

“Apple is not currently a retailer involved in an access or subscription model. I’d probably like not to speculate on what Apple’s plans are – it’s really interesting technology that it acquired in the Lala acquisition. That’s a question that Apple management should answer,” he wrote as reported here.

“I don’t think Apple’s really that clear to the market (on the subscription suggestion), so I wouldn’t suggest it will not have an impact, but I certainly won’t speculate what kind of impact it will have.

“We made great progress with Apple last year on variable pricing. It’s our hope that we can continue to make great progress. But I can ‘t say that there’s a specific intiaitive today with Apple,” he said. Continue reading

Germany calling: Sky TV plans an iPad push

News Corp. doesn’t just own a load of newspapers, it also owns Sky – and it looks like it intends introducing iPad-compatible Sky TV subscriptions, beginning with a roll-out in Germany later this month.

Sky Deutschland, News Corp.‘s German pay-TV provider will introduce its Sky Anywhere TV viewing service for the iPad in mid-May. The iPad application was created locally within five weeks.

“It will start with sports content, but there’s no reason why it can’t extend to everything Sky has to offer, both on a linear basis and in on demand. Most importantly for our customers with have the rights to do that, which means we can provide the services to them on either a low incremental cost, or in some cases no cost,” said Sky Deutschland CEO, Brian Sullivan. iPhone-controlled iPad Becomes TV Games Console – Can Apple TV Be Far Behind??

Once again, with the technology so obvious that developers are already creating such solutions, there is a future for the Apple TV, as a low cost console for the television that aggregates all your iTunes media, offers internet access and surfing, a full selection of HD or upscaled iPhone apps and higher capacity.

Oh, and the new Apple TV system is controlled by your iPod touch, iPhone, or future low-cost touch sensitive remote control that will ship in the box with the new product… Continue reading
