BBC World News streams live to iPhone

Akamai today announced that Livestation, a UK-based global provider of online broadcast content, has launched its streaming application which allows live television broadcasts to be sent to the iPhone using Akamai Media Delivery.

The Livestation technology puts broadcasters in direct contact with the users and generates revenue for them when the application is purchased from the iPhone App Store.

Boxee team release feature-packed new Mac alpha

Main BBC channels will be live online

BBC shows including EastEnders, Heroes and Never Mind The Buzzcocks will be available to watch live online from next week, the BBC has announced.

Programming from BBC One and BBC Two will be made available to watch live online simultaneously with their live broadcast from 27 November, Jana Bennett, Director of BBC Vision, announced today.

Joost gets social as browser plug-in

Facing increasing competition in the market, online video service, Joost, has opted to dump its desktop client, reinventing itself as a cross-platform browser plug-in.

Joost was the brainchild of Skype/Kazaa co-founders Janus Friis and Niklas Zennström. At its inception the service aimed to distribute TV shows and other video content online using its own proprietary peer-to-peer technology.
