iTunes US sells one million NBC shows in days

iTunes has sold one million shows from NBC Universal since the broadcaster returned to Apple’s digital media service earlier this month.

NBC Universal also saw web traffic at its CNBC.com and NBC.com website portals reach record levels – partially as a happy side-product of public interest in information about the collapsing financial markets.

Research firm Hitwise found that on Monday, US users spent more time on average on CNBC.com — 18 minutes — than they did on competitors including Yahoo Finance, CBS Marketwatch, WSJ.com and Bloomberg, reports the Hollywood Reporter.

On iTunes, about 30 per cent of the top-selling episodes and season passes now comprise shows either airing on or produced by NBC Uni, the report adds, The broadcaster reportedly accounted for 40 per cent of iTunes video sales before content was pulled from the store last year.
