iPhone unlocking hindered by 10.5.6

Apple’s battle with iPhone unlockers continues, with the recently-released Mac OS X 10.5.6 update once again preventing the jail breaking of the iPhone and the iPod touch.

iPhone Dev Team, the developers behind one of the most popular available jail breaking tools however state: “We believe this behavior is due to a kernel bug not a specific countermeasure by Apple.”

However, a report on a German Mac news website notes that Apple’s attempt to contain jailbreaking can be circumvented simply by connecting the iPhone using a USB hub.
