Coldplay release free new track online

Coldplay look like they get digital – fresh on setting the record for being the band behind the most digitally-downloaded album ever the act has released a brand new track as a free download, available now from the Coldplay website.
The never before released track is called ‘Death Will Never Conquer’ and has been made available to celebrate the first night of the band’s US tour.
“Our tour begins tonight in LA,” the band said on the act’s website last night. “To say thank you to everyone who’s bought tickets and supported us, we’re giving away an MP3 of a new track called ‘Death Will Never Conquer’.”
The song is based around Chris Martin’s piano and features the lyric: “One day death is gonna conquer me / I’ll be down where the waters flow / I hope sweet heaven is the place for me.”
The website also promises fans will hear the newly-released song, “at the concerts with a twist…”
Go get it.
We’d like to note that some of the most talk-provoking moves from acts online in recent months do appear to have emerged from musicians associated with EMI, leading us to speculate the digital future may be beginning to look a little rosier for the UK major label. Certainly, EMI artists appear to be spearheading new ways to handle teh internets more than those on most other major labels.
