Amazon plots UK iTunes take-down

The Daily Telegraph reports the internet giant plans to launch its digital music service here later this year, with senior executives in London last week to meet with senior music label chiefs.

Amazon’s MP3 service sells music in digital format free of DRM. Unlike Apple’s iTunes Plus service, Amazon’s already has support from multiple labels, including EMI and Amazon.

The Telegraph warns the UK launch will form part of “an international rollout” for Amazon’s service, as the company likely makes use of new trans-border digital music licensing agreements to license distribution for multiple European countries.
