Apple and the major labels are working to develop new interactive booklets, sleeve notes and other interactive features in an attempt to boost album sales.
A report from the Financial Times claims the labels and Apple are working to deliver the results of the project, dubbed, “Cocktail”, the report claims citing four people “familiar with the situation”.
“It’s all about re-creating the heyday of the album when you would sit around with your friends looking at the artwork, while you listened to the music,” said one executive familiar with the plans.
The project will mean fans get access to new types of interactive content, images, lyrics and liner notes. You’ll be able to play content simply by clicking on a mention of it within these new digital liner notes.
The report also claims Apple to be working to introduce its tablet computer in time for the Christmas shopping season.
