The Beatles and iTunes – blame EMI, says Macca


From the “recycle me and use me up” department, former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney has once again railed against EMI for the failure so far to offer music by the legendary band for sale and download via iTunes and other digital music services.

European iPad prices leak – leave Europeans weeping

Apple has announced that it intends making the iPad available in nine more countries on May 28, and will open up for pre-orders on May 10.

Press release follows:

CUPERTINO, California—May 7, 2010—Apple® today announced that iPad™ will be available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK on Friday, May 28. Customers can pre-order all iPad models from Apple’s online store in all nine countries beginning on Monday, May 10. In the US, Apple has already sold over one million iPads and customers have downloaded over 12 million apps from the App Store, as well as over 1.5 million ebooks from the new iBookstore.

Warner Music Boss Ignites iTunes Streaming Speculation


Warner Music Group CEO, Edgar Bronfman Jr, is full of praise for Apple – sparking fresh speculation iTunes streaming music services may be on the way in the latest financial call.

He was very backward in responding to questions on this, saying:

“Apple is not currently a retailer involved in an access or subscription model. I’d probably like not to speculate on what Apple’s plans are – it’s really interesting technology that it acquired in the Lala acquisition. That’s a question that Apple management should answer,” he wrote as reported here.

“I don’t think Apple’s really that clear to the market (on the subscription suggestion), so I wouldn’t suggest it will not have an impact, but I certainly won’t speculate what kind of impact it will have.

“We made great progress with Apple last year on variable pricing. It’s our hope that we can continue to make great progress. But I can ‘t say that there’s a specific intiaitive today with Apple,” he said. Read the rest of this entry »
