Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien offered a five-minute video address at MidemNet today, in which he slammed industry management for their lack of creative vision, saying in the last 10-15 years, “the money-men are running the record companies” (as opposed to the creatives -he cited Chris Blackwell as an example.)
O’Brien also discussed the Featured Artists Coalition. “While the industry is being consulted by governments and technology companies, nobody was actually talking to artists – the creators of this music! Nobody was asking us what we thought!”
He stressed the importance of the artist-fan relationship – “there has to be that trust there” he said, and repeated some of his thoughts on file-sharing as propounded in the video above.
