Apple recently introduced a software update to iTunes (v.8.2.1) which had the effect of disabling Palm’s attempt to integrate its device with the world’s most widely-used legal digital music service. Now Palm’s countered with the release of the Palm Pre webOS 1.1 update.
A note on Palm’s support page states the update: “Resolves an issue preventing media sync from working with latest version of iTunes (8.2.1).”
Coming in fresh from the “this band gets digital” department comes news of Virgin act, A Fine Frenzy, who are celebrating the recruitment of their millionth follower on Twitter with the release of a free download.
To celebrate the moment and to thank fans, the band is tweeting a free MP3, an acoustic version of their single, “Blow Away”. This version was recorded during a recent visit to Cincinnati radio station Q102.

EMI Music has announced a number of senior digital executive appointments,hiring in a batch of executives with wide experience in music, technology and consumer brands like Google, Tesco and BSkyB, as well as with online retail and political campaigns.
Cory Ondrejka, who was recently appointed as executive vice president of digital marketing within EMI’s central marketing organization, said:
In a twist of fate, digital music hold-outs Metallica have introduced an iPod-ready band-branded jacket…
The jacket includes Skullcandy speakers hidden in the hood and an iPod dock connector. Dubbed the M4 jacket, the band plans to make only 800 of the things in collaboration with sportswear company, Sessions.
You also get on-sleeve iPod or iPhone controls and a bunch of Metallica-inspired artistic details. The coat will cost $330 when it appears in August. The only way to get one of these jackets is to be member of the Metallica Club.
