The biggest problem with Blu-Ray is the DRM enforcement problems on the software side. This forces serious changes to Mac OS X that would hobble its ability to run freely.

I would rather have Blu-Ray relax its DRM to the level of DVD. Then it would be useful in a computer.

In regard to a Blu-Ray player, why buy anything other than a Sony Playstation 3 to play Blu-Ray Disks? The 3rd Party players and the Sony Playstation 3 cost about the same. And the Sony has the most compatible and Future-Proof Blu-Ray player. This kills other 3rd Party Blu-Ray players. Essentially, Blu-Ray is another proprietary Sony Format.

As anyone knows, Sony's proprietary formats have historically been dead ends.

Blu-Ray is essentially dead as it is conceived.

I'm sure that everyone will get blu-ray with time. You know that everyone is saying I'll get it when the price drops. When you can get a DVD @ $5.00 to $9.99 why would you buy a Blu-Ray when their movies are selling +$20?
Ohh, and the live side by side video demos they have comparing dvd vs blu-ray are exaggerated in favor of blu-ray. DVD is not as bad as Blu-Ray portrays it.
